A weekend of women, song, and joy. Coming to a town near you. Please
stay tuned to this site for upcoming Sing-shops in northern California.
Please join Jane Lowey, Director of the Common Voices Women's
Chorus in Cape Cod Massachusetts, as she gathers a circle of women in
YOUR town. In one weekend, Jane will lead the group of women on a
journey that will open both the voice and the heart.
Perhaps you have never sung in a group. Maybe you are afraid of singing aloud. It
is likely that someone , somewhere has told you to be silent or discouraged
you from freely using your voice. Maybe you have sung in a very strict
choral setting, and are looking for the old feeling of simply singing for
joy. Perhaps you've been working too much, and playing and singing too little.
In any case, this SING-SHOP is for you.
This SIng-Shop will provide a safe and encouraging environment
in which to sing. It will teach you how
to move deeply into your body and allow for the voice to express. It will invite you to play, and come into
community with other women. Step by step we will build the skills to make
music together, and to awaken our inherent capacity to LISTEN.
We
will focus on process more than product, and we will also make some
wonderful sounding music! NO EXPERIENCE NEEDED. No sheet music and no auditions! Just
bring your willingness.
The weekend will begin on a Friday night, with an introduction
to the voice, the group, and simple ways to make music together. The minimum size for the group will be 20-25 women. This provides plenty of room
for you to experiment with your voice.
We will reconvene on the Saturday, and sing all day long. We will build our listening skills, learn new kinds
of songs, and have loads of fun with the process. Every voice is a welcomed
voice. Sunday, we will gather for a half day,
and by then, we will be singing as though we'd been together for
years!
Awaken the inherent potential of your own voice.
It is a gateway to your authentic self.
Discover the power of singing in community.
YOU are the instrument.
